About ToTaLa Collective :
Sangay and Satya who founded the ToTaLa collective are sustainability practitioners trying to live a zero waste cyclical regenerative life as much as possible. Wanting to return home to Gangtok to live a slow life but as it has now transformed into a city, hence we left Bangalore in April 2025 to move to our village, Duga in Sikkim. Experimenting with Unlearning, Zero Waste, Unschooling, Permaculture and Natural building in Duga village, Sikkim along with our 5y old daughter has been a welcome change in our life and we are embracing it with all the benefits and challenges that come along with it. Started Zero Waste Duga with The Himalayan Cleanup 2025 around World Environment Day 2025 and to plan a roadmap to a zero waste village, supported by Zero Waste Himalaya and also TIEEDI. The Village Community committee (samaj) has already embraced Zero Waste measures post the event and even the Zilla Panchayat who is organising a marathon (Run Pendam run) has agreed to do a Zero Waste marathon, which is a win for us to promote the idea in the GPU and constituency level. Trying to promote natural building and natural materials and some projects are materialising slowly. Building a small hosting and event space in Duga village enabling people to visit and live with us and also to involve the community.
