Whispers of the Mountains

Synopsis

A soft, mute Ragu befriends the Aravali mountains, where his father runs a tea stall at a mining site. Ragu’s desire to study is hit with turmoil, when his father is diagnosed with Silicosis. With a compelling screen performance, Ragu’s rebel and desire gives hope in an ignoral industrial environment.

From the filmmaker

Growing up in Rajasthan, I have seen how closely people’s lives, memories and livelihoods are connected to these mountains. At the same time, I have watched these ancient hills slowly disappear under the pressure of mining and unchecked development. Whispers of the Mountains came from my desire to understand this change through the lives of the people who experience it every day. I wanted to observe what happens to a person when the land that carries their memories, identity and history begins to disappear.
