Synopsis

An Icelandic writer preserves vanishing glaciers, departed grandparents, family memories, and flowing time in his personal archives. Through a poetic amalgamation of anecdotes, animations and archives, Andri narrates what these glaciers mean to him, his past, and his coming lineage.

From the filmmaker

In a time when the violence of the climate crisis ravages the earth, we need stories that can act as maps for our shifting world. TIME AND WATER is a gesture toward such a map, anchored by the perspective and archives of writer Andri Snaer Magnason. While themes of solastalgia and grief run through the film, we intend it to land on a note of agentive uncertainty. The future is unwritten, and what we do now matters.
