Synopsis

When Typhoon Yolanda devastates his town, young Russell finds comfort in a single firefly that lights his way through loss and uncertainty. In the aftermath of calamity, the film offers strength in nature and community, reminding us that even the smallest flicker can brighten the darkest times.

From the filmmaker

In 2013, Typhoon Yolanda hit the Philippines with an intensity that reshaped lives and landscapes. In my mind, amidst the devastation and human failings, I kept thinking about the fireflies. I wondered where they had gone, how they had fared in the storm, and whether I would ever see them again. Through this film, I aim to give voice to those moments, those memories, and the hope we hold onto, even when it feels like all light has disappeared.
