Synopsis

The story follows a seasoned boatman reeling from a tragic loss, and a dedicated meteorologist, as they grapple with the increasing unpredictability of the weather. An audio visual delight, the film explores the complex relationship between traditional, lived knowledge and modern data-driven science.

From the filmmaker

The Prediction is a deeply personal project, inspired by the coastal communities I’ve had the privilege to know. Motivated by the insightful column "Science of the Seas" from The Wire, the film explores the complex relationship between traditional knowledge and modern data-driven science. Filmed entirely on location on the remote Iddukam island of Pulicat lake, with the total involvement of the local community, it is meant to be a poignant reflection of humanity’s vulnerability.
