Synopsis

In the forests of Arunachal’s Dibang Valley, medicinal plants, stories, and healing form a living web of knowledge. As the filmmaker meets the elder shamans who carry this knowledge, the film asks what happens to this heritage as it’s keepers pass.

From the filmmaker

I belong to the Idu Mishmi community, and I’m the first Idu Mishmi woman documentary filmmaker from my community. For me, that is something deeply meaningful. I have always been drawn to stories about my community—especially stories about how our people lived before, and the knowledge and practices that shaped our lives. I made this film because I feel it is important for our next generation to know where we come from and to understand the knowledge that is slowly disappearing.
