Synopsis

Three prominent people studying the Salt Water Lake in Utah want to raise awareness of its destruction. However, no one is taking them seriously. In this warm, grounded yet hard-hitting treatment with serene visuals, the film explores confusion, loss, and adamancy with citizens and authorities.

What initially seemed like a regional environmental crisis quickly revealed itself as a story about survival and the choices we make as a society when faced with collapse. The Lake pushes back against a world built on speed and sensation. It asks, what it means when crisis hits home, and how far we’ll go to protect what’s ours. This is a story of unlikely alliances—Republicans and Democrats, scientists and politicians, in a country that can’t seem to agree on anything.
