Synopsis

This little-known reptile finds a place for itself in the vast Mugetan Desert of China. With breathtaking views cinematically captured by the filmmaker, the story delves into the Guinan Sand Lizard adapting and searching for a habitat as humans increase their footprint on the ecosystem.

From the filmmaker

I first became interested in the Guinan Sand Lizard because it lives in such a small and unusual habitat. But while making the film, I became more interested in the changes happening around it. I wanted to observe how the lizard, local people and a changing landscape exist together. For me, the film is really about how difficult it can be to decide what a “better” environment means, especially when different species need different things.
