Synopsis

Inside the heart of Brazilian Amazon forest, Maro Forest Guardians, like their symbol - tortoise, have patiently, powerfully and empathetically been fighting illegal loggers on their land. Through archives, anecdotes and reenactment, their story of resilience captures how they have asked their forests to stand peacefully, with a sigh of relief.

Through dramatic re-creation and exclusive archive, we are on the front line with the Borarí forest guardians in their struggle to defend their ancestral land against logging companies. The film captures the story of the forest guardians and the creation of a powerful, indigenous-led resistance movement determined to keep the forest standing. It is both a tribute to the Borarí’s extraordinary resilience and a call for global solidarity - because ‘you don’t need to be in the forest to join the fight’.
