Synopsis

Mumbai coastal shores are home to many marine species. Pratip Patade is on a journey to find a species of long-lost crab species. Through his conversations with researchers, fishing communities and marine enthusiasts, he curiously maps the shores of the city, to solve his puzzle.

Ohoti’ is my way of saying that Mumbai’s marine legacy is not just in the creatures still clinging onto its shores, but in the people who seek them out and study them, day in and day out, with an unwavering enthusiasm. I hope the viewer feels the tension between loss and hope, and walks away seeing the intertidal shore not as a forgotten fringe, but as a frontline of urban ecology and human connections.
