Synopsis

An exchange year in Ecuador led the filmmaker to discover a story of silent resilience by indigenous Amazon women against big oil companies. Visually stunning and emotionally tender, these womens’ histories float through the river, and their voices seek hope and accountability.

From the filmmaker

The film is a tribute to the silent and open resistance against the destructive oil industry in the Amazon. It invites us to listen more closely, to recognise the perspectives of the women affected and to acknowledge their right to land and their way of life. Oil extraction is part of a neo-colonial practice whose traces run through bodies, rivers and histories. Responsibility for the exploitation of resources and the destruction of livelihoods extends far beyond the Amazon - to the centres of global power.
