Synopsis

From the narratives of two Tamang brothers, the film explores how changing landscapes and increasing tourism in Nepal’s Khumbu valley, though good for the economy, are taking away the freedom of the communities to live their lives on their own will. Amidst these majestic mountains, the economy also takes a seat in Nepal’s ecosystem.

From the filmmaker

The Khumbu Valley preserves ancient traditions of wisdom that regard the mountains as sacred, while at the same time serving as a hub for high-altitude commerce and the excesses of mass tourism. The film seeks to explore these paradoxes without judgement, through the journeys of a monk and a porter. It invites the audience to reflect on our relationship with the mountains and, ultimately, on our attitude towards the world at a time where urgent change is needed.
